We are deeply saddened to announce the death of our co-founder and former board member, Rolf Baumann, who passed away peacefully this morning, aged 79.

Having founded Baumann in 1969 with his brother Wolfgang and technical director Adolfo Gazza, Rolf helped to spread the sideloader concept throughout the world.

He played a pivotal role in the establishment of Baumann for over 30 years, co-ordinating the sales and aftersales activities, providing much of the energy and encouragement required to turn the business into a market leader.

Rolf’s great spirit for innovation and research led to him registering several patents and helped inspire his brother Wolfgang, who managed the factory in Cavaion.

Another charismatic pioneer and entrepreneur, Wolfgang also sadly passed away in late 2020.

Well connected and well respected by the worldwide Baumann sales network that he helped to establish, in the 1980s Rolf went on to co-ordinate a factory in Bischheim, France, producing electric four-way machines.

His interest and enthusiasm for sideloaders remained strong throughout his life and he remained humble, despite his many achievements.

Our condolences go to the family, especially his children, Alexander Baumann and Evelyn Baumann, and our love and best wishes to his friends and former colleagues around the world.
